Set in the gently rolling hills of North Nottinghamshire, in the heart of Robin Hood County, Notts Hollinwell is currently one of only 4 UK courses hosting Open Final Qualifying and offers one of the very finest examples of heathland golf in the UK & Ireland.

The course is ranked in England’s Top 20 by Today’s Golfer, UK’s Top 50 by Golf Monthly and 31st of 147 courses worldwide on the list of Custodians of The Game – the main qualifying criteria is “When you walk off the 18th green, you should feel invigorated rather than exhausted, and the allure of returning to the 1st tee is strong”.

Laid out over 400 acres of free draining sandstone, play is possible virtually all year round at Notts Hollinwell making it an ideal venue summer or winter. In the same way that he maximised the use of height in the ground at Sunningdale Old, the twice Open Champion Willie Park Junior used the natural contours of the Valley of Kirkby Forest, initially creating a course at Hollinwell just short of 6000 yards which was long in those days using gutta percha balls and hickory clubs. The strength of challenge continues today exemplified by a par of 72 and SSS 76 from the Championship tees which now measures 7250 yards.
